PowerFLARM® is a collision avoidance device that was developed specifically for the needs of small motorized aviation.
PowerFLARM® is a reliable warning system which identifies many different air traffic participants - including most gliders, aircrafts with Mode-C or Mode-S transponders as well as air traffic equipped with ADS-B.
Despite "See and Avoid" there are an annual 20 mid-air collisions worldwide in General Aviation. Every second person involved does not survive. Collisions are, unfortunately, the second most common cause of accidents. Collisions usually happen during the day, despite high visibility, in monitored or unmonitored air space.

Transponders alone do not help to identify and avoid collisions in light aviation. Other technologies are geared towards the needs of commercial aviation. Small aircraft need a low-cost system that is small in size, consumes little power and is able to warn of dangerous traffic, thereby supporting the pilot.
Over the past years, FLARM® has achieved enormous penetration and acceptance in gliding. More than 15,000 devices are being used in Europe and Australia, more than 10,000 of these in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
PowerFLARM® was developed to meet these specific requirements and can assist in preventing collisions. PowerFLARM® combines the benefits of FLARM® with ADS-B and transponder technology used in engine-powered flight. It is inexpensive and easy to install.
